Terry Murphy owner/trainer, grew up rescuing and training dogs. With a Masters in Education, she also has experience teaching all ages of people (and dogs!). Terry has successfully trained and titled dogs through the AKC Utility level of competitive obedience, and has also titled dogs at the Excellent level in agility and through all levels of Rally obedience. Her dogs also have titles in Barn Hun, Lure Coursing, and Dock Diving. Terry is president of the Blue Ridge Belgian Tervuren Club, a past board member of P.A.W.S. of Carteret County Pet Adoption and Welfare Society, is a member of the American Belgian Tervuren Club and the Association of Pet Dog trainers and is also an AKC CGC & S.T.A.R. puppy evaluator.Terry has given programs and demonstrations on training for agility, obedience, and conformation for various groups in the area and attends seminars regularly on obedience (both pet and competitive), Rally, agility, herding, tracking, scent work, barn hunt, and she just added dock diving to the list!!! Terry currently lives with three Belgian Tervuren and two cats. In her spare time she loves time on the water and the beach
Sally Hoyt owner/trainer, has had dogs, both mixed breed and purebred, her entire life.She has extensive knowledge of breeds in the herding group having owned German Shepherds, Old Engish Sheepdogs, Belgian Malinois, Belgian Tervuern and a her first dog Dutchess, a Collie. Sally worked in a Veterinary Hospital in Rocky Mount, NC before moving to the Crystal Coast and starting her unique gift shop "Seagrass" on Front Street in Beaufort, NC. Sally is currently training and showing her three Belgian Tervuren, Ham, Gabby, and Hannah in agility, rally and obedience. Sally is a member of the Blue Ridge Belgian Tervuren Club.
Molly Wood trainer has been with Sound Dog since the beginning. She lives with the "Red Dogs" (Vizsla's) she trains and competes in conformation, agility, Rally... (More details coming soon).

Olivia Leary trainer has been a dog owner for over 50 years. She is active in all aspects of canine training and health. She has attended numerous seminars at NC State dealing with canine reproduction. She is also active in cardiac monitoring for canine good health. She is the owner of Fairwind Shilohs and breeds and trains Shiloh pups for their forever homes. She follows the Puppy Culture training philosophy.
At the Sound Dog Training Center she participates in all aspects of dog training from Puppy School to agility. She is also an instructor/trainer in the puppy day care program.
Bob Decker has been a life long lover of animals in general and dogs in particular. His Classique Kennels was a producer of championship Belgian Tervuren. As a former member of the American Belgian Tervuren Club Bob served as a regional columnist for the club newsletter, Tervuren News & Tales (TNT). He is currently an active member of the Blue Ridge Belgian Tervuren Club. Bob has titled dogs in Confirmation, Obedience, Rally and Barn Hunt and has a dog nearing their title in Lure Coursing. Bob taught SCUBA, both as a part-time endeavor and in a full time position, for 16 years, retiring as a PADI Master Instructor and NAUI Instructor Trainer. He is comfortable with helping people learn and demonstrating new skills. If you were to ask Bob what the best part of training a dog is he would tell you it is the bond that develops between the handler and dog. Bob lives with his wife and two dogs, a young Belgian Tervuren named "Justin" and an English Springer Spaniel named "Livy." His other interests include nature photography, kayaking, camping and hiking.
Jean Nocilly Now an Obedience and Rally Judge for AKC! (Training Advisor) started showing her first Bouvier, Amos, in 1993 after 25 years of competing in Quarter Horse shows. In 2002 she retired from teaching High School Biology in Syracuse, New York and began spending the winters at her parents’ home in Morehead City, NC. Jean has taught obedience and agility for the Syracuse Obedience Training Club since 1995, is teaching obedience in Delaware at About Great Dogs, LLC and is assisting at Sound Dog whenever she is in town. In 2006 Jean and Grover were honored to compete at the AKC National Obedience Invitational in Long Beach, CA. Dust and Mariah are currently training and trialing in herding, agility, obedience, tracking and rally, and Callie is competing. And on the scene is Nike!!!! The newest member of the Nocilly "pack"
Skip Wolff (Training Advisor) has owned purebred dos since birth, having been given a black cocker spaniel as a baby present. Since that first dog, Skip has owned multiple Cockers, Irish Setters, and, in 1986, acquired her first Doberman Pinscher, the breed destined to become part of her heart. She fell in love with the sleek elegance of the Doberman, as well as the intense intelligence of the breed.
Skip has competed in RAlly, Obedience, Agility and Confirmation. To date she has put dozens of AKC, UKC, CKC and Bermuda KC titles on ehr dogs, including 16 CDs, 13 CDXs, 2 UDs, and 13 Rally and 8 Agility titles. Not least, she has had a nationally ranked Champion in 2001 and 2002.
She is currently showing her Dobermans in Obedience, Rally and Confirmation. Additionally, one of these is a therapy dog. Recently, through marriage, a lovely Cavalier King Charles Spaniel came into Skip's life. She is being shown in RAlly and Obedience as well as participating in therapy dog activities.
Dana Mackonis (Training Advisor & Webmaster) has been breeding, training and showing Belgian Tervuren since 1972. She has competed in conformation, obedience, tracking, herding, rally, agility, schutzhund, and trained dogs for police canine detection. She had her own training school for 18 years, Companion Dog School and a drug dog detection training service, Canine Detection Services.She is a founding member of 3 regional Tervuren clubs and 2 obedience and all breed clubs. Her training philosophy is to have fun with your dog in a positive manner.
