Terry Murphy

Owner/Trainer:  Terry grew up rescuing and training dogs. With a Masters in Education, she also has experience teaching all ages of people and has applied her knowledge to dog training. Terry has successfully trained and titled dogs through the AKC Utility level of competitive obedience, and has also titled dogs at the Excellent level in agility and through all levels of Rally obedience. Her dogs also have titles in Barn Hunt, Lure Coursing, and Dock Diving. Terry is president of the Blue Ridge Belgian Tervuren Club, a past board member of P.A.W.S. of Carteret County Pet Adoption and Welfare Society. She is also a member of the American Belgian Tervuren Club, Association of Pet Dog trainers and an AKC, CGC & S.T.A.R. puppy evaluator. Terry has given programs and demonstrations on training for agility, obedience, and conformation for various groups in the area and attends seminars regularly on obedience (both pet and competitive. Terry currently lives with three Belgian Tervuren's and two cats. In her spare time she loves to spend time on the water and the beach.

Sally Hoyt

 Owner/trainer:  Sally has trained a number of dogs, both mixed breed and purebred. Starting with her first dog, Duchess, a Collie, Sally has extensive knowledge of breeds in the herding group, having owned German Shepherds, Old English Sheepdogs, Belgian Malinois and Belgian Tervuerns, and winning numerous awards and titles. Sally worked in a Veterinary Hospital in Rocky Mount, N.C. before moving to the Crystal Coast.  Sally is a member of the Blue Ridge Belgian Tervuren Club.

Brenda Wallace

Prior to joining Sound Dog in 2019, Brenda dedicated her 30+ year career in education to helping young children with autism develop their ability to communicate. She is an expert in behavioral learning theory, and understands that meaningful behavior change takes time, planning, consistency and maintenance to achieve positive outcomes, and is able to apply these same skills to animal training. She also combines her strengths as a yoga instructor, to her interests in animal behavior, and particularly enjoys teaching dogs to choose a settle behavior who may typically present as overly excited or reactive in various circumstances. Brenda began training dogs in 1994, and has won numerous awards and titles showing her two Standard Poodles.

Dolly Currier

​

Dolly came to Sound Dog in 2018 and you might say that she has a nose for training dogs. She started our scent work program and has taken some of her students to AKC trials with titals achieved. Dolly is a transplant from New England where she graduated from Boston College with a degree in Medical Sciences and attended River Valley Community College to become a Veterinary Assistant Level |. She raises Labrador Retrievers and has achieved numerous titles over the years. Dolly has competed at the local and national levels and in 2016 she was ranked #1 in the US World Cynosport Rally. She's been training dogs for 30 years and is an AKC Fit Dog trainer and an AKC Canine Good Citizen evaluator. Dolly has competed in AKC, CPE (Canine Performance Events), CYNOSPORT, and NADAC (North American Dog Agility
